Located in western South America, the Andes is the world's longest mountain range. The Andes extend through parts of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela for over 4,400 miles. In some places, the Andes stretch over 300 miles wide. The average altitude in the Andes Range is over 13,000 feet above sea level.

The Andes is the highest mountain range outside of Asia. Its highest point is a mountain known as Aconcagua. Located in Argentina, Aconcagua rises 22, 841 feet above sea level. It is the highest point in the western hemisphere.
